Where it all began

Our heritage

We were founded in the New Forest in 1953 by Mr Raymond Brown.

We played a significant role in the construction of some of the south’s major trunk roads including the M25, widening the M1 and preparations for the Channel Tunnel.

A civil engineering division was first established in the late 60s and this ultimately led to the construction company being formed in 1986.

Business continued to thrive and in 2007, we constructed the breakwater at Portland that proved pivotal in establishing Weymouth & Portland as the host venue for sailing events at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Where we changed our name

In August 2016, the Raymond Brown Group demerged and on 1 September 2017, we changed our name to Knights Brown.

Where we are today

300 people and
turnover of £101m

Our work is spread between the market sectors of Coasts & Ports, Energy, Water Utilities, Infrastructure and Building. With offices at Ringwood, Bridgend and Rochester we serve construction customers across southern England and Wales. Our energy division is established nationwide with projects taking place all over the UK.

Aside from continuing to grow sustainably and profitably, our leadership team is driven by a desire to make Knights Brown a great place to work, fundamentally by putting our people first. This is because we believe that doing so engages and motivates employees more successfully to the degree everyone will always aim to do their best, ultimately striving to deliver better outcomes for our customers and each other.

With employees placed firmly at the heart of our business, we are committed to providing a service that delivers what our customers desire most – confidence that projects will be delivered in line with their expectations by teams of people who honour their word and get things done.
