LOCATION:
These works were completed for Hampshire County Council under their Transforming Cities funding.


The purpose of the scheme was to improve bus journey times and provide better reliability and facilities for passengers.
- Addition of a bus lane on Marchwood Bypass approaching Rushington Roundabout with kerb drainage system and street lighting.
- Improved crossing point on Marchwood Bypass close to Rushington Roundabout and associated signal works.
- Relocation and widening of shared use cycle/footway facilities between Parkside and Arnold Clark, including drainage ditch improvements and the renewal of street lighting.
- Renewal of carriageway surfacing between Rushington Roundabout and Jacobs Gutter Lane.
- A bus gate on A326 including signals, drainage, carriageway surfacing and vehicle restraint system.
- A crossing point between Bull Copse Road and Marchwood Bypass connecting two bus stops on Marchwood Bypass.
- Widening of the pavement on Bull Copse Road.
Challenges
Keeping traffic flowing smoothly, managing diversion routes for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists, maintaining our workforce’s safety in the live traffic environment.
Solutions
Careful application of our documented procedures ensured attention was paid to keeping our workforce and the publice safe at all times.
Traffic management arrangements were fully documented, reviewed and constantly checked for compliance.
Outcome
The works were successfully completed in September 2024.
